Companies and organizations have to react to these changes and are therefore looking for specialists and managers who can find innovative solutions to challenges that are perhaps still unknown today. Since 2023, five new professorships will turn you into sustainability experts in all areas of economics.

Combine business studies with your passion for languages and study IBS. You can choose between Spanish and French without any previous knowledge and ideally combine your passion for languages and culture with a semester abroad.
Are you passionate about cultural studies and the humanities? But do you see yourself more in the organization, planning and management of cultural projects or in the ethical analysis of business decisions? Then combine the Management course with a cultural studies subject of your choice.
Business, sport and media sounds like an exciting combination to you? It is! In our sports economics study programme, which is unique in Germany, you will learn everything you need to know for jobs in sports clubs, event agencies or sponsoring departments, for example. You will also gain valuable practical experience by organizing your own event and completing an internship.
If you would like to focus on computer science and digitalization, you should take a look at our Business Informatics programme. Here you will help shape the digital future, develop shopping apps or design music platforms, for example. And all this with the best connection to our professors!
Are you interested in both business and technical issues? You don’t have to choose with us. On our industrial engineering study programme, you will learn which new products work for which new markets, what automated manufacturing processes are needed for and what company organization is involved.

For a future in which we enjoy living and working, we need new economic thinking in all areas. We need digitalization experts, number crunchers, pioneers, managers, globalization strategists, teachers and inventors.
Don’t know what type you are yet? No problem, we’ll start together with the business basics. This makes it easy for you to switch between the different courses in the first few years of your studies.
Economic fundamentals:
A dynamic world requires economic thinking and action. But what does that actually mean? This much can be said: it’s not just about maximizing profits. Instead, you will learn why companies exist at all and what social responsibility they bear, what role information plays in interaction processes, what incentives motivate people to behave in a certain way and how the scarcity of resources affects companies and markets. You will learn all of this in a very practical way with experiments.
In order to understand how companies work, you will learn about the disciplines of marketing, human resources, organization and management and find out what role annual reports, taxes, accounting processes or investment decisions play in a company. At the end, you will be able to answer the following questions, for example: How do I prevent my employees* from dawdling at work? Are analog business models still relevant and how do I know when an investment is worthwhile?
You will encounter mathematical models and theories in all subjects, which is why math and statistics are also part of the fundamentals of economics. But don’t worry! We offer math pre-courses for revision and repeat all lecture content in groups with just a few students.
In this area, you will deal with the wider context of markets and their participants. How do market equilibria arise, how do supply and demand work and what influences the decisions of consumers and producers?
In some of our study programmes, you will learn even more perspectives on business than basic subjects: How can we use new technologies to improve processes? What should a good further education program look like and which company organization is suitable for a start-up? You will deal with these and other questions in business informatics, business education and business law.
