Paderborn University has around 17,000 students – a pleasant size where you can quickly find your way around and always meet new people. As a campus university, all the important buildings are close together, which guarantees short distances and a lively campus life.
Paderborn University offers a wide range of study programmes. Here you can choose from over 70 study programmes in the fields of technology, engineering, natural sciences, economics, cultural studies and teaching. So there is something to suit almost every taste!
Finding the right degree course can be challenging. That’s why Paderborn University supports you in this crucial process with a wide range of orientation services that give you an insight into the courses on offer, the campus and everyday student life. For those who prefer a more personal approach, the Central Student Advisory Service will also be happy to help you and answer any questions you may have in a personal meeting.
The housing situation in Paderborn is fairly relaxed compared to other large cities. There are many offers: Student halls of residence, shared apartments and also some affordable apartments. Paderborn is also located in such a way that you can get to the university relatively quickly even outside the city center.
The Paderborn University campus has a lot to offer. There are sports facilities, numerous student initiatives that you can join and a wide range of events. The cultural offerings with theater, concerts and parties are also impressive. So you will never be bored. Incidentally, the AStA culture ticket gives you free entry to many cultural institutions in Paderborn.
Paderborn is well connected. There are regular buses. Line 100, for example, takes you from the main train station to the university in seven minutes. But there are also numerous train connections for longer distances – and Paderborn-Lippstadt Airport is not far away either.
Paderborn University’s canteen has a good reputation and offers delicious and affordable food for every taste – whether vegetarian, vegan or with meat. There are also other catering options where you can get coffee and snacks in between meals.
Paderborn University has many services to make it easier for you to start and complete your studies. There is the Central Student Advisory Service, which can help you with any questions, tutorials, mentoring programs and various advice centers for personal and study-related concerns.
Paderborn University does not charge tuition fees. You only pay a semester fee, which includes the Deutschlandticket for use on trains and buses. You have a variety of options for financing your studies: In addition to BAföG, there are many different scholarship programs and job opportunities for students.
